A LinkedIn post is currently one of the best ways to promote your business via social media. This is a platform that is bursting with business experts from practically every industry. Finding your voice and making it heard among these people is incredibly helpful. It will aid you as you strive to expand your network and grow your business.

Posting high quality, original content will attract attention when it is presented in the correct way. It is simply not enough to write an amazing article, publish it on your website and hope that people will find it. Social media promotion has to form part of your strategy and a LinkedIn post is perfect for this cause.

Knowing how to create an optimised LinkedIn post that will capture and hold the attention of your followers is pivotal to succeeding on this platform. And doing so is one of the best ways to use LinkedIn effectively.

What Makes a Great LinkedIn Post?

The topic that you write about is one of the most important components. Producing content for the sake of producing content will generally get you nowhere. It pays to put some time and effort into your research. Know your target audience and you will be able to create informative, relevant articles for them. Writing about your personal experiences, both your successes and your failures, is the perfect way to show your followers that they can relate to you. Writing about that which inspires and motivates you, in business and in life, also demonstrates to your readers that you are relatable.

Make Your LinkedIn Posts Stand Out!

The headline of your post and the image are going to be the first things a potential reader sees when they come across your post. These things will usually determine whether or not they click on your content. This is why it is so important to be original and to stand out. Your headline should never be more than 70 characters and it should never include tired old clichés that everyone is tired of hearing.

When it comes to choosing your image, bigger is generally better. You want to grab the attention of anyone who might be scrolling by and a big, colourful image is a great way to do that. Due to time and resource limitations, it might not always be possible to use your own original image. If you do have to rely on stock images then choose one that is of a high quality and is relevant to your LinkedIn post.

The link description, also known as the meta description, will help to grab the attention of potential readers. This should never be more than 250 characters and ideally will contain the keyword that your article is focused around.

How Often Should You Post?

Bombarding your LinkedIn network with too much content is never a good idea and will quickly cause people to stop following you. Aim to make one interesting and useful LinkedIn post every weekday. Also, make sure you are responding in a timely manner to anyone who comments on your post.
